“I don’t do clubs! I don’t drink! I don’t smoke!” she told the 3000 crowd who came to the Progressive Baptist Church for “An evening of Praise with Jennifer Hudson”.

“It’s an exciting time because the city is so rich in the gospel tradition”, said audience member Brenda Morgan. “It’s a great night, we’re so proud of Ms Hudson”.

Jennifer attributes her vocal talents to her late grandmother Julie Kate Hudson who was a committed churchgoer and also sang in the choir. With a 6-octave range she’s been compared to the likes of Patty Labelle, Whitney Houston and Jennifer Holiday.
