For Golden Globe and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson celebrations won’t be
at the mansion of a celebrity Hollywood friend, but simply at the Chicago gospel church where the rising star started singing at the tender age of seven.

at the mansion of a celebrity Hollywood friend, but simply at the Chicago gospel church where the rising star started singing at the tender age of seven.
“I don’t do clubs! I don’t drink! I don’t smoke!” she told the 3000 crowd who came to the Progressive Baptist Church for “An evening of Praise with Jennifer Hudson”.
“It’s an exciting time because the city is so rich in the gospel tradition”, said audience member Brenda Morgan. “It’s a great night, we’re so proud of Ms Hudson”.
Jennifer attributes her vocal talents to her late grandmother Julie Kate Hudson who was a committed churchgoer and also sang in the choir. With a 6-octave range she’s been compared to the likes of Patty Labelle, Whitney Houston and Jennifer Holiday. |
